Onion Soup

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 onions
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • Olive oil
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup white wine
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 2 tsp chicken bouillon powder
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Some fresh herb leaves
  • Baguette
  • Gruyère cheese

In a pot, heat butter and olive oil.

 

Add minced garlic and stir well. The onions are caramelizing.

 

Pour in white wine and let it simmer briefly.

 

Add 1 1/2 cups water.

 

Add 2 tsp of chicken bouillon powder.

 

Add 1 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce.

 

Add some fresh herb leaves.

 

Brush the baguette with olive oil before baking to enhance its flavor.

 

Bake baguette slices in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for 5-7 minutes.

 

Place the baked baguette on top of the onion soup, then grate Gruyère cheese over it.

 

 Bake the soup in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for another 5-7 minutes.
