Miyeokguk (Seaweed Soup)

<This is for 2-3 servings>

 

Ingredients
  • 1 pound beef (for soup), cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Salt (to season the beef, optional)
  • 3.5 ounces seaweed
  • 1/4 cup sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup Korean soup soy sauce
  • 3/4 cup water or more
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic

 

Instruction
  1. Cut 1 pound of beef into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Season the beef with salt before adding it to the seaweed soup (optional).
  3. Soak 3.5 ounces of seaweed in water for 15 minutes, then drain the water.
  4. Cut the soaked seaweed into small pieces.
  5. Add 1/4 cup of sesame oil to a pot and stir-fry the beef.
  6. Add the seaweed to the pot and stir-fry the seaweed well.
  7. Add 1/4 cup of Korean soup soy sauce and 3/4 cup of water. If it’s too salty, adjust the seasoning by adding more water to taste.
  8. Add 1 tbsp of minced garlic and bring it to a boil.
